Professional Bio

Bec is a Registered Osteopath (BAppSc,MOsteo) and Clinical Nutritionist (BHScNut) graduating from RMIT University and Endeavour College of Natural Health respectively.  Bec has worked in private practice for 14 years and has undertaken extensive postgraduate CPD and training in women's health, her business, Freya Health, is a women's/pelvic health focused clinic operating out of Coast Life Midwifery on the Sunshine Coast. Bec primarily see people for pelvic floor care, incontinence, persistent pelvic pain, endometriosis, pregnancy and postpartum - both for osteopathy treatment and nutrition advice. Originally from Melbourne, Bec worked with the VFL and AFL early in her career but quickly decided elite sports was not for her.

Alongside colleague Sarah Dryburgh, Bec also presents a CPD course called The Endo Enigma with Bower Bird CPD, this course focuses on the role of the manual therapists in a person's team of healthcare professionals to enhance their outcomes, improve pain and quality of life. It provides practitioners with up to date research and useful techniques for those with endometriosis. Bec is the current Queensland practitioner member for the Osteopathy Board of Australia, which is part of the Ahpra National Scheme of regulated health professionals; this role focuses on regulation, governance, qualification standards and public safety. Bec also spent several years lecturing and as a Course Coordinator in the Myotherapy program at Endeavour College in Brisbane. She has also previously volunteered her time for QENDO as a community meeting coordinator and has also volunteered her Osteopathic skills to Women's Health and Equality Queensland (WHEQ) an organisation which provides resources and health services to women and gender-diverse people with experiences of violence. Bec has presented at many seminars, workshops and conferences on the topic of pelvic health and pain, including but not limited to the Faculty of Medicine at University of Melbourne, Magnolia Health, Osteopathy Australia and QENDO.

The Jaw, Core and Pelvic Floor; How They Impact Endometriosis

We will touch briefly on the pathophysiology of endometriosis and then discuss how our jaw, core and pelvic floor can impact a person's experience with endometriosis and pelvic pain via our neuromyofascial system, breath and allostatic load.

Role of the Manual Therapist and Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a whole body issue that affects the nervous, immune, endocrine, lymphatic, fascial and musculoskeletal systems.  This presentation will give you an understanding on endometriosis, inflammation and pain science and teach you hands on techniques, lifestyle management and pain education to assist in treating those with pelvic pain and endometriosis. We will focus on visceral techniques,  fascial release and external pelvic floor treatment.
