Abstract Presentation:
Dorsal Scapular Neuropathy: An Overlooked Cause of Chronic Upper Back Pain

Dorsal Scapular Neuropathy (DSN) is a frequently overlooked condition that can lead to chronic upper back pain, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. This presentation aims to shed light on this under-recognised neuropathy by exploring current literature and its implications for clinical practice.

Our discussion begins with an in-depth examination of DSN's etiology and its intricate connections to other musculoskeletal conditions. By understanding these relationships, we can develop more accurate and effective assessment protocols. We will review evidence-based diagnostic techniques, emphasising their reliability and applicability in various clinical settings.

The core of our presentation focuses on treatment strategies for DSN. We will critically analyse both well-established protocols and emerging therapeutic approaches. By evaluating their efficacy through the lens of recent research, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of current best practices. This analysis will include manual therapy techniques, exercise prescriptions, and innovative interventions that show promise in managing DSN.

Furthermore, we will synthesise the latest clinical observations and research findings to offer a nuanced understanding of DSN. This integration of theoretical knowledge and practical experience will provide valuable insights for both seasoned practitioners and those new to treating this condition.

As we conclude, we will identify gaps in current knowledge and propose directions for future research. These suggestions aim to enhance our diagnostic capabilities and refine management strategies for DSN in clinical practice. By fostering a deeper understanding of this neuropathy, we hope to improve patient outcomes and contribute to the evolving field of Myotherapy and musculoskeletal health.

This presentation serves as a comprehensive review of Dorsal Scapular Neuropathy, offering clinicians practical knowledge to improve their assessment and treatment of this often misdiagnosed condition.
